If you’ve ever read through someone’s guest book, you’ll notice that most of the entries are pretty repetitive: “Congrats, we’re so happy for you!” etc. We’ve rounded up some more creative ideas for guest books that would be a little more interesting to read through later. Here’s a roundup of our favorite ideas:
#1. Wishing Tree. Put beautiful branches such as cherry blossom, manzanita, or magnolia branches in a pot. Make cards with ribbons attached and ask guests to write their well wishes or advice and hang the cards on the branches. via mydiyweddingday

#2. Postcards/Mailbox. Provide postcards of the city or state where your wedding is held. Ask guests to sign the backs, then slip them into a mailbox. Perfect for a travel-themed wedding! via Martha Stewart.

#3. Framed Poster. We la-la-love this idea. Frame a sweet poster or a picture of yourselves and have guests sign the mat. You can get this exact poster from SparklePower on Etsy. we met in a bar.

#4. Fingerprints Tree. This is such a sweet and unique idea! Draw a tree with lots of empty branches on a poster, then put up a sign asking guests to “leaf” a fingerprint and sign their name. See more photos here!

#5. Typewriter. It’s not a new idea anymore, but we still love vintage typewriters as guestbooks. Provide some direction, like asking guests to share some words of wisdom, and you’ll get more interesting responses.

#6. Photobooth/Chalkboards.
Hang a patterned cloth or create a backdrop to serve as your photobooth. Provide chalkboards and chalk and leave a sign instructing guests to write a message and take a picture with it. You’ll get sweet pictures that showcase your guests’ personalities! via welovelaughkiss.

#7. Polaroid Guestbook. Another spin-off of the photobooth guestbook is to have guests take Polaroids of themselves, mount them in a book, and sign next to their photo.

#8. Dirty Laundry. Write instructions on a detergent bottle asking guests to “air out your dirty laundry” by writing funny stories about the two of you on cards shaped like pieces of clothing. Then clip the cards onto a clothesline–what a fun idea! via Bridal Inquirer.

Other ideas include a time capsule, fill in the blank pages, signed plates, quilts, and even surfboards

Really good ideas here! I'm seriously considering the postcards, we have a family tradition of sending them so it's kind of perfect.

Very creative. Love the Polaroid and tree guest book ideas.
To lovers, I devise their imaginary world, with whatever they may need, as the stars of the sky, the red, red roses by the wall, the snow of the hawthorn, the sweet strains of music, and aught else they may desire to figure to each other the lastingness and beauty of their love.
Really great ideas! I am going into wedding planning and with this economy it demands money saving creative plans. The wishing tree is my favorite!
I've learn some excellent stuff here. Certainly value bookmarking for revisiting. I surprise how a lot attempt you place to make the sort of fantastic informative site.
in the UK we don't tend to use wedding trees but I love the idea of using them instead of a traditional guest book. They can be placed into a scrapbook after the wedding with photos of those who wrote the wishes making a stunning memory book.
Its such as you learn my thoughts! You seem to grasp so much approximately this, such as you wrote the e book in it or something. I believe that you just can do with some p.c. to force the message home a bit, but other than that, this is excellent blog. A great read. I'll certainly be back.
Just stumbled accross this page using stumbleupon. Awesome post and a great idea. I'm seeing more and more creative diy wedding projects popping up lately. A sign of the times?

Had actually never heard of the "vintage typewriter" idea before. My favourite suggestion here though is the chalkboard and photos! What an imaginative way to capture not only everyones thoughts on your day but you also have an original keepsake with a picture telling a thousand words.
