Today’s wedding is so beautiful! Shane and Natalie are high school sweethearts. They didn’t have a huge budget, so they set about planning a unique and beautiful wedding without spending a fortune. That meant lots of handmade details, antique store purchases, Etsy finds, and items borrowed from friends and family. Their effort definitely paid off–everything came together beautifully and all the handmade touches add to the charm and specialness of their wedding.

Comments from the Bride: “When Shane and I started planning our wedding about a year and a half ago it seemed like the day couldn’t come fast enough!  You could say it had been a long time coming (7 and a half years to be exact!).  We met junior year of high school and ended up having our son Keagan a year later!  Keagan is our miracle child to say the least; he was born 3 months premature and soon after was diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy. He has always been a fighter, the love of our lives and the glue that holds us together.  Our little family has always been far from ordinary, so when it came to planning our wedding, we knew we wanted just that…anything but ordinary!”

“Soon after we got engaged, Pinterest came into my life! Wow, I’m not sure how I could have come up with so many different DIY wedding details without this website! However cheesy it may sound, Pinterest was an amazing tool I used to help plan and organize our wedding!  Through the wedding planning process, I also became a little obsessed with the idea of having a vintage/rustic theme along with the DIY aspect.  I wanted the look and feel to be soft and romantic, casual and fun, a little whimsical with lots of vintage and rustic touches!  All of my details were made by hand, bought from etsy and antique stores, or borrowed from friends and family.  I also wanted to show people that you can still have an amazing wedding without having to spend a fortune!”

Advice for Future Brides

“When our big day came, I was shocked at how fast it went by.  I was always told to soak it all in, stop and look around you every once in a while on your special day, because it was going to go by faster than you think.  If I could give one piece of advice, it would be: stop and just look around you.  Look at your family, your friends, your details etc. because soon it will be over and you are going to want as many memories as possible to hold onto.  My favorite part of our wedding was just that, looking around me and seeing all the people that I love having an awesome time and I wouldn’t have changed it for the world.”
