Georgia and Steve’s Wedding

With photography by Simply Rosie (who also shot Aileen’s wedding), a lakeside ceremony, pretty portraits involving a red canoe, and a reception full of bunting, vintage china, and mason jars…this wedding is a winner in our book! Scroll through the photos in our vendor listing for One Plus One Design and you’ll see their super cute save the date too. Steve and Georgia were together for 10 years before they tied the knot this past summer. The timing was finally right, as Georgia had just finished her degrees (master of science and a medical doctor program–dang!)

From Georgia: Steve proposed at Lower Kananaskis lake almost 2 years ago beside one of our favorite hiking and camping spots. I was totally surprised because I didn’t think he would propose until I was graduated. He used the money that he had been saving up for a bike to get my ring…and so in return I bought him an engagement bike to that we could bike together! We love hiking, camping, and everything outdoors and we wanted our wedding to reflect that. We also wanted to give our guests (closest friends and family) the best time ever!

The theme was rustic vintage. The groomsmen all matched. Steve wanted them to have an old time look. I wanted the bridesmaids to be comfortable so they all chose dresses that they liked and were comfortable in. My favorite details were all of our homemade decorations. Everything was DIY in the tent. Steve’s mom helped me to sew all the of the napkins and the bunting and table decorations. We gathered mason jars for over a year and made personalized name takes for each guest. We also made all of the enterprises ourselves. The cookies were made may a family friend and all the china was my moms. All the the crystal bowls for the candy bar we’d borrowed from family.

Our menu was totally custom and evolved through many meeting in with Janine and Alex from bistro 71/4. We wanted to focus on gluten free and local food that was delicious! They totally delivered. The Ceasar bar was a huge hit and featud bacon, bacon
wrapped onion, port, asparagus, pickles, red wine, peppers just to name a few choices

Most memorable moments: 1) my dad walking me down the aisle, 2) saying our vows that we wrote together, 3) almost tipping in the canoe to get an awesome shot, 4) the little girls ripping up the dance floor, 5) our rustic photo booth, our guests absolutely  loved it! and 6) the food

In terms of advice: Enjoy the day. It goes by so fast. I enjoyed every minute and have no regrets. Also get a good photographer. We had Simply Rosie who was absolutely amazing, she helped with a lot of the design details and she brought along her husband Mark who made us all s’mores!!! Amazing!
