Susan and Kyle’s Wedding is simply marvelous! The bride is stunning in her sweetheart dress, the decor is simple and perfect, and the Kendall Creek wedding ceremony and reception location is breathtaking!
More from the Bride: “Kyle and I are lucky to have really loving, close families, and a great group of friends who are more like extended family. We saw the wedding as an opportunity to throw a party to say thanks for supporting and loving us, let’s celebrate together in the most fun way we know how: eating Mexican food, drinking beer (and champagne), playing lawn games, and shakin’ it on the dance floor.
“From a style standpoint, we kept things sweet and simple. It was important to me that we not take the barn wedding over the top with a ton of burlap and mason jars and lace, so we focused on succulents and vintage pieces with clean lines. I loved the way the bare tables turned out with the votive candles and pewter and milk glass containers.”
“My veil was really special to me – it combined my mom’s Juliet cap and my sister’s veil from each of their weddings. I wore my grandmother’s platinum and diamond watch that my grandfather gave her many years ago.”
We had a few DIY elements – the programs, table numbers, place cards, wooden arrows, giant Jenga and the sendoff flags. We also made wooden beer totes as welcome gifts with home brewed beer, wine, spicy and sweet pecans, and koozies.
Advice for Future Brides
“For DIY brides, start early and plan well. I stressed a lot in the last few days before the wedding because I put off some of our projects, and felt like I had used my come over for a crafting and cocktail party card too many times. Our dining room table was covered in craft supplies, which drove Kyle insane, and some of the things I DIY’d actually would have been a lot cheaper to just order.
“For every bride: it’s inevitable that something will go wrong, and it will be last minute. Accept help. The dresser I rented for our ceremony altar fell through five days before the wedding, and I had no time to find a replacement. I asked my parents to find something, anything – they found a rental place in Boerne, and somehow convinced the sweet owners to refinish a buffet in 48 hours for our wedding. It was perfect, and there is no way I could have pulled that off if I had tried myself.”
Favorite Wedding Moments
“The caricature artists were a huge hit – I remember noticing during the cocktail hour that nobody was playing lawn games, and it was because they were all lined up to get their picture drawn. We had a wall for the caricatures to hang so people didn’t have to tote them around, and it was a blast to walk along the wall towards the end of the night and laugh at cartoon versions of all our favorite people.”
