Jess and Jonny had a DIY backyard wedding and they incorporated so many personal details into their special day to make it truly unique. I love that she switched into her mom’s wedding dress and that they had a glitter girl instead of a flower girl!
Here is what First Mate Photo Co. said about Jess and Jonny’s wedding: The best backyard wedding of all time. Jess and Jonny did everything themselves for this wedding. They were on a budget, and still managed to pull off an amazing, intimate wedding that was perfectly suited to their carefree and loving personalities. Jess surprised her groom by renting a vintage Porsche to pick him up for their first look. She had seen the car in a parking lot a few weeks earlier and left the driver a note under his wiper that she would like to pay him to borrow his car. They chose to do a first look at a small farm down the street from the wedding location.
Instead of having a flower girl, they had a glitter girl. One of the bride’s nieces sprinkled glitter as she walked down the aisle. To surprise guests and her groom Jess switched into her mother’s wedding dress before the ceremony and walked to the altar from the woods behind, instead of up the aisle. They wrote their own vows.
So much care and love was put into the wedding. Jon made a beanbag toss game for his neices and nephews. And the couple spent hours making bunting flags and doily garlands to hang over the ceremony site. The hand etched glasses for all of their guests to use for their drinks throughout the night, and to take home as favors, with their wedding date and the state of Connecticut.
Dinner was catered by a local brick oven catering truck, who made custom pizzas for their guests. The evening was finished with dinner and dancing and cake.
