Are you looking at having a rustic theme for your wedding day? Well this bride and groom’s wedding is a great example of a rustic intimate wood round themed wedding that is overflowing with DIY decor! A great and easy way to get that rustic theme is by actually incorporating slabs of wood through out your reception. This lucky bride has a father-in-law that has a knack when it comes to wood working, but if you aren’t as fortunate then take a peek here at the selection of wood slabs that you can buy fairly reasonably and add to your own wedding day.
From the bride: “Michael and I met in Germany, live in Los Angeles, and got married in Ohio. Our story was one of travel, love, and adventure. A former southern boy from Huntsville, Alabama, Mike proposed to me in Palm Springs on a romantic get-away.”
“My husband’s father is very talented when it comes to wood working and hand made all of our centerpieces. My father-in-law asked us both what “love is” and we came up with about 30 different points about what love means to us. He then etched those sayings into handmade wood slabs. He also made all the wooden benches for people to sit on during the ceremony, an arbor for us to get married under, the seating card holders, and the Robyn and Michael wood slab indicating the date of our marriage. He made all the wood items out of local trees around the area.”
“My mother-in-law is also very creative and made many of the beautiful details – including the programs, bridesmaids bracelets, tissue paper garland decorations, wine-bottle holders, mr/mrs sign at the head table, the flower arrangements for the bridesmaids (bought the seasonal flowers whole-sale), chalkboards, the wood directional signs. She also put together the table arrangements with the centerpieces and burlap. The entire wedding was DIY, from friends and family helping put the tents up for the reception and bar area, to the little picture of my mother who had passed and pinned to my flower bouquet. I even had a bracelet with her handwriting engraved on it that I wore. Every detail was made with love.”
