Yesterday’s stunning Roman Holiday style wedding (classic movie that I highly suggest watching) got me thinking about how to include friends and family that are unable to attend your destination wedding.
You never need a reason to host an elegant evening with good food, wine, and friends or family. What better reason than to celebrate your nuptials once you return home from your destination wedding.
I adore the idea that today’s couple did just that – a small intimate wedding followed by a fancy reception on their one year anniversary. I’ll let the bride tell you all about it below!
Remarks from the bride: “I married my husband, Eric, at Wilson Creek Winery in Temecula on November 16th, 2013. As a wedding planner, I chose to have a small and intimate wedding with family and closest friends, so Eric and I could enjoy their presence as much as we could.
“It was an incredible night, and everything I imagined it would be! Because we kept it so small, we decided to hold a wedding reception at the Hilton Waterfront Huntington Beach to celebrate our first anniversary with all of our loved ones, so those who did not share our wedding day with us could enjoy this special moment with us.
“We started the beautiful Sunday with a cocktail hour where I wore my wedding dress again for those who weren’t able to see the gown at the wedding. Then, we had brunch and held a wine box ceremony with our guests. Eric and I opened the box, read the sweet notes we had written to the other, and enjoyed the bottle of wine. We also wrote new letters and placed them with a new bottle of wine to open on our next anniversary, hopefully surrounded by our wonderful loved ones yet again.
“After the brunch, we continued to celebrate our special day with close friends and family in our 9th floor suite overlooking the ocean with an incredible sunset that night. Being able to share in our love and excitement after a year of wedded bliss with the ones who matter most to each of us was amazing. Not very many brides get to relive their wedding day, and it was a day I will always cherish and remember.”
