There is something magical about this styled shoot – perhaps I am just a sucker for a picnic basket packed full of yummy dessert treats! My husband and I enjoy a good picnic, especially if said picnic is completely comprised of sweets — I can’t think of anything better. The attention to detail definitely makes this one of my favorite styled engagement shoots: from beautiful makeup to lovely dress, rustic decor to green foliage, and stunning photography to a happy couple!
Remarks from Styled by KittySloane: “This Whimsical and rustic sweetheart styled shoot was photographed by Jess H. Photography and inspired by the infectious love shared between two high school sweethearts, Karyssa and Ian. Playing off the natural beauty of the naked trees and overgrown field as winter came to a close, we created an intimate dessert picnic for two. Touches of blush, gold and vintage elements tied together the look.”
“Flowers by Korissa created large arrangements out of blush roses, spiral eucalyptus, wispy tree ferns, and sweet smelling peach stock. Small arrangements were filled with twig spheres and Pacific Northwest grass mix. Korissa also handpicked & incorporated fresh moss throughout the various arrangements to help set the tone and compliment the outdoor shoot setting.”
About the Sweetheart Couple
“Karyssa & Ian are high school sweethearts. They me through a mutual friend, at one of Ian’s baseball games. It was there at that game that Karyssa and Ian first laid eyes on another. Quickly they knew that there was something very special about each other as they got to know each other that day. Karyssa’s mom would always tell her, ‘It’s not necessary to date anyone unless you feel that they could be your husband one day.’ Karyssa had always lived by that, and then she met Ian. Although they were both just 14 when they started dating, they knew that they were meant to be. Now, 7 years later, they still only have eyes for each other. They decided to pick out a ring that they both loved, together. They chose a Halo 1 Carat Cushion Cut ring by Neil Lane. They plan to have a destination wedding in Hawaii; are very excited to marry, carry on their careers side-by-side, and start a family one day.”
“Décor from Styled by Kitty Sloane’s inventory included plush blankets surrounded by Pacific Northwest old growth birch stumps, a chippy wood bench and crate, vintage frames and cake plates, rusted hearts and multi-sized quilted mason jars, and green tinted bottles filled with whimsical floral arrangements. ”
“For the collection of sweets, Turquoise & Pink created simple yet elegant, ruffle flower topped sugar cookies with a vanilla buttercream, and classic white chocolate cake pops. Both of these sweets were dusted with shimmers of gold glitter. Also included were watercolor hand-painted floral cookies to complete this romantic dessert picnic.”
“Other shoot décor included vintage picnic baskets, an antique rocking chair and one of our favorite romantic novels, The Best of Me, in tribute to the one and only Nicholas Sparks.”
