Bride Q&A

Q. Your favorite moment of the day?
A. My favorite moment was stepping up on the big granite rock in front of all our family and friends, just as the ceremony was getting started, and looking into Justin’s eyes before the pastor started speaking. He looked so happy and relieved. He took my hands and all our hard work in preparing came together in that moment we got to share, knowing we were about to make the most important promises to each other!

“Our signs were rustic wood with painted decorative script that I purchased off Etsy from small, relatively local artists.

“I personally drove up to Eden, Utah to get the lavender we placed in the napkins and around the candles. I’ve always loved lavender, the way it looks and smells, and thought having little touches of it here and there added a nice touch.

“We had Moonlight Lighting add little twinkle lights, white sashes, and one large chandelier to the ceiling of the Moonbeam Lodge, where we had our reception. My mother and I went and bought large, drooping flowers from Modern Display and tied them into a circle so they could hang from the chandelier. Moonlight Lighting also brought in some birch trees with twinkle lights on them to place around the head table.”

Q. Describe your bridal look
A. “I wanted to have a mountain-bohemian look at the wedding. I wore a very simple flower crown with my hair in an up-do. My makeup was supposed to look relatively natural and ‘fresh’.

“My gown was so comfortable! It was a strapless, fitted gown with a medium length train and a beautiful, very unique lace overlay. I wanted to make sure my dress was functional and wouldn’t hold me back, and that it had its own look that wasn’t what the typical bride would have chosen. My dress is part of a collection that the designer calls Nomadic Love; it had the bohemian flare to it that I was looking for.”

Q. Where did you get the inspiration for your color palette and design?
A. “Periwinkle, light blue, light green and violet have been my favorite colors my entire life. I’m kind of obsessed with them. I’m not sure it’s healthy.” 😉

Q. Describe your wedding flowers
A. “Lots of textures, with some traditional choices, like white roses. But I also had to have some non-traditional aspects, like succulents. I also had many, many hydrangeas because they best embodied my love for periwinkle blue.”

Q. If you knew then what you know now…
A. “I wish I would have stopped worrying about what all the guests might say or think! I stressed a lot about how other people might feel about or react to my plans. My advice to brides would be to just organize your big day for what you want, and try your best not to wrap other people’s desires/needs into it. It’s about you and your partner, everyone else will have a great time no matter what!”
