Wedding Story

“Rachel and Joe met at George Mason University in Virginia as undergrad students. The two were neighbors and had several mutual friends so one day, they decided to go see a movie together. And well, the rest is history! “Being college sweethearts is wonderful- we had the opportunity to have fun as students and transition into the working world together,” Rachel said. Skip ahead to Memorial Day of 2017. Rachel and Joe were having date night and it started at Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall (one of their favorite spots to go to talk and watch the sunset). On this night, Joe got down on one knee and proposed! Of course, Rachel said yes!

“Rachel and Joe planned their wedding all the way from Washington D.C.! The couple, as well as Rachel’s family, all live in Virginia. Joe’s family is from Minnesota so they decided to have the wedding in Joe’s home state!

“Their wedding ceremony was at Church of Assumption and the reception was at Landmark Center. The couple chose Church of Assumption because Joe’s family regularly attends church services there.

“They chose Landmark Center for their reception venue because they loved the classic look of the building and they knew their Virginia relatives would enjoy the enriching Minnesota history that the Landmark Center has to offer. In honor of the couple’s history in Virginia and Rachel’s home state, their table numbers were all Washington D.C. themed!

“Both Rachel and Joe love the color light blue so they also decided to incorporate this color into their flowers, ceremony programs, and wedding party’s attire.

“One very special aspect of this wedding was that Rachel’s three uncles all took turns stepping into the father role for Rachel throughout the day since her father passed away ten years ago. Another special part of their wedding day was bringing their two families from Virginia and Minnesota together.”
