Your parents want the best for you. So when occasions like Christmas roll around, it’s a great time to show them they’re the best too!
I love giving gifts, especially at Christmas. Whether its a new (personalized gift) cutting board, or a splurge on the latest and greatest bluetooth tech gift, we’ve rounded up some top Christmas gift ideas for my mom and dad this year.
Christmas Gift Ideas for Parents
1) Custom House Portrait Art
Every home is special, and the one you spent many years in as a family is more special than most. Whether your parents are still living in the place you grew up in or they’ve moved on, a custom portrait of that home is a beautiful reminder of an important time.
Tip: Make sure you have good quality photos for the artist to work from.
2) Wine Club Subscription
My family has always enjoyed trying out new wines. I remember growing up, Christmas dinner was the only occassion that my parents would allow us kids to have a small glass of wine! Of course, I never really drank the glass because I thought it tasted aweful as a 10 year old. Different story nowadays, as vino is my go to drink of choice.
You can’t go too wrong with a wine club subscription. I’m guessing this gift is a top choice for many parents when you ask, “What do you want for Christma this year!?”
3) Facebook Portal
We recently bought this to test it out as a product demo, and I have to say, it is a very handy gift!
We are still figuring out all the nuances, but do really like the voice activation feature. Also, no longer do you have to hold a mobile phone for hours on end to see the grandkids. The 24 inch screen displays a high resolution image. Whatsmore, the “spotlight” feature works pretty well when you want to still move around but have the camera focussed on just one person.
4) Your Drawing as an Art Print
When it comes to art as a Christmas gift for your parents, we bet they will prefer your drawings over anyone else!
That’s what makes this gift such a lovely idea. If you have even half an art bone in your body, make something brand new now. If not, choose a picture you created when you were younger for some kitsch charm.
5) Ring Video Doorbell
A great gift for parents who have a little bit of tech know how. The ring video doorbell syncs up with any Amazon-Alexa enabled products so that your parents can see and hear who’s at the door.
If they are anything like my parents, that means see who is at the door ‘without having to get up from their easy chair’!
6) Personalized Calendar
Calendars are always a handy present at this time of year. For 2021, make the gift extra special by filling it with personalized pictures. How about a trip you all took together, or a selection of sweet snaps of the grandkids?
Every month can be a visual memory treat.
7) Robot Vaccum
by No products found.
We all like a clean carpet, but how many of us actually enjoy vacuuming?
Hello George Jetson, the robot future we were all promised has finally arrived.
Take the effort out of one of the most annoying household chores by gifting a Robot Vacuum. Go ahead, tell your mom & dad to put their feet up — literally — as the robot does the cleaning.
8) Waterpik Water Flosser
Looking after your teeth should be a top priority no matter what age. A water flosser is one of those excellent bits of kit that your parents might put off getting for themselves. It’s a bit more expensive than traditional floss, but the results are well worth it.
9) Top Notch Home Speaker
Amazing sound and easy to setup — what more could your parents need!?
Sonos speakers often sit in the number one position on trusted third party review websites, and for good reason. These speakers have long been recognized for top quality audio performance.
10) Master Class
On the other hand, if mom or pop is a keen leaner, but not as mobile as they once were, why not look into the amazing variety of subjects on offer at MasterClass? This online portal has classes on everything from acting to poker, all hosted by some of the best brains in the business.
11) Fire TV Stick
A Fire TV Stick from Amazon makes watching all your favorite shows just that little bit easier. Get your parents set up with one of these over the holidays, and you’ll be able to settle down to a festive movie or two with a minimum of fuss.
12) Weighted Blanket
First of all, YES these blankets are heavy at a whopping 20lbs.
I recieved my weighted blanket last week, and my husband thought the parcel was a new piece of workout equipment! I have been testing it out nightly and can honestly say that I HAVE BEEN SLEEPING BETTER!
I don’t know if that is because:
- The comforter I had before may have been too hot
- The fact that I enjoy the weight of the blanket
- An extra blanket on the bed means my husband and I no longer fight over one duvet cover!
In any case, I think this is the type of product you really have to try for yourself to determine if you too like the weight and can possibly get a better night’s sleep.
13) Food Basket/Hamper
I’m all about gifting good food. And what better time of year to gift a nice food basket than at Christmas time! Lots of yummy options to spoil mom and dad’s dining room table for the 2020 holiday season.
14) Relative Insanity Party Game
Gift this whacky and hilarious game and you’re sure to spend Christmas night in fits of giggles.
Warning: sense of humor needed!
15) Echo Dot with Alexa
Why buy your parents an Echo Dot? Here’s just a few reasons:
- Listen to their favorite tunes
- Catch up on the news
- Search Google for answers to questions
- Baking tips!
Gift a speaker that’s truly smart, and open up a whole new world of possibilities. My parents just bought one and they’re really digging it.
I love my Kindle. It’s so light and easy to use that I take it with me everywhere. Give mom and dad the ability to dive into a book at a moment’s notice. The key benefit about Kindles for older readers is that you can change the text size – no squinting to make out the words!
17) Echo Show
The days of the school run may be long gone, but you can still improve every morning for the folks that raised you with this super smart alarm clock. Echo Show 5 can do everything from take video calls to adjust smart thermostats, so your parents can get their day off to a great start every time.
18) Aero Garden Indoor Growing System
I actually came across this product many years ago. I think it is a useful gift for parents who like cooking and gadgets. This sleek looking indoor garden makes growing herbs and veggies a dream. It’s got a hydroponic growing system and LED light to create the right growing conditions. A good gift for parents with a green thumb who’ve recently downsized to a condo.
19) Family Tree Print
Christmas is a time for family, so why not celebrate your roots this year? Choose a lush family tree print like the one pictured, something that can be hung on the wall for years to come.
20) Genetic Ethnicity Test
A gift that the whole family can enjoy — especially if either parent has an interest in finding out more about their heritage. Plan a get together when the results come in, and chat about anything interesting in your family ancestry. See more family tree art ideas here!
21) Upgrade the Slippers
Pamper those tired feet just a little more with some seriously snuggly slippers. Mom will love sliding into these at the end of the day and the soft sole and fluffy fur makes them a luxurious alternative to your average option.
22) Meal Delivery Kit
by Hello Fresh
Encourage them to try new and inventive dishes without the requirement of shopping for obscure ingredients by getting them a meal delivery kit. Easy to follow instructions, high quality ingredients, and minimal waste make this an all-around winner.
23) Single Serve Coffee Maker
Once all the kids leave home, your parents have the chance to downsize. That means not having to make a giant pot of coffee every time one of them wants a cup! Let them enjoy a perfect cup of joe for one with this excellent single-serve machine.
24) My Life Story – So Far
Did your parents keep a baby book when you were small? Or, do they have photo album stuffed with pictures from when you were younger? Do they ever complain about all the things they’ve missed out on since?
An ideal gift for letting your parents into the everyday stories you might’ve forgotten to share, along with a record of the big events. This takes some effort to prepare, but the payoff is more than worth it.
25) Adult Coloring Book
Help mom (or dad!) take a little me time and de-stress with a gorgeous and intricate coloring book. Art is great for your general well being and coloring books make it easy to take part even if you’ve barely picked up a pencil in years.
26) Light Therapy Lamp
Give the gift of energizing light, all year round. If your parents find it a little difficult to get outside these days, or they struggle during the dark winter months, this light therapy lamp could help boost their mood.
27) Amazon Gift Card
A gift card for Amazon may be the right call this year. Let them shop for themselves.
Or, gifting Amazon Prime, which is about more than free delivery. Although I have to say, that’s what my dad loves the most about PRIME! Give a Prime membership for Christmas and set them up with tons of TV shows, music, and books to enjoy for free throughout the year.
We’ve sourced a whole variety of gifts to wrap up and put under the tree for your parents this Christmas. Share the joy this festive season and show how much you’re thinking about everything they’ve done for you over the years. Happy Holidays 2020!
