Wedding Story

Jen Rios Designs Remarks: “This shoot started with the fantastic vintage flag bunting that Lisa of Period Charm Rentals found in February and faithfully held onto until we were ready. Once Catie approached me about providing design & styling for the shoot I chose to use the bunting as inspiration.

“I wanted the patriotic scheme of red, white, and blue to be more muted than your typical bright hues. Once I had decided on that the rest really fell into place. Lisa has a great stock of items that fit right in. Catie Ronquillo, our photographer, had the perfect couple in mind and boy was she right!

“The couple’s personality and the intimate setting we were creating lent itself to the elopement theme, as real couple, Katherine and Josh, high school sweethearts, actually did elope last August. What better way to celebrate your freedom than running off with the love of your life to get married?

“We added in the suitcases to help tell that story and our shoot was born. The stationery by Palm Papers was simple, an announcement that the couple will send to guests to announce their elopement, and emulates a subtle firework motif.

“Since this shoot has a 4th of July theme, we felt that pie was the perfect substitute for a traditional cake, especially since this is an elopement and it’s just the bride and groom. Red Velvet Cupcakes, provided the perfect pop of patriotic red. Red Sole Events created a 4th of July inspired boutonniere and corsage in lieu of a bouquet, as well as simple red florals – anemones and parrot tulips in milk glass.

“We used a perfect white bistro table from Period Charm Rentals for the couple to have an intimate dinner for two.”
